I have been the proud owner of this Marshall combo, 4 valve amp for around ten years now but still know very little about it's true age, rarity and value etc. I haven't seen any other quite like it. The serial number reads 603. Made in England. The amp is all original but the speaker has been replaced with a JBL unit at some point before i took ownership. It's the prefix to the serialnumber that tells the model. So this is a combo with 1x12' speaker, four valves all together, and a very low serialnumber? The Silver Jubilee series had a 1x12' combo 2554, and serial numbers that started at 00200, but it had more than four valves. I thought that Marshall used a four digit serial number to '66, and started using five digit serialnumbers from '67, when they started with their plexi back panels. Only combo with four valves I can think of is the 20w version of the 1974 combo, but then the serial number could be wrong.

If it has four output valves it could be a JMP 2150 combo. That is not a Marshall. It's a Park 100w Valve Rock Combo, also called 1x12' 100w MV Super Combo, model 1240. The Park amps were built by Marshall for Johnny Jones who was the distributor of Marshall in the North of England. When Rose-Morris took over all distribution of Marshall amps, Jim Marshall made the Park amps exclusively for Johnny Jones from '65. The Park amps are great amps, and they are Marshalls in disguise.

We do not have serial number information on Marshall Amps before 1969. The serial number is usually located on the back panel of the chassis but some amplifiers made between 1979-1980 had them on the front panel. From July 1969 to December 1983, the date letter was put after the serial number. From Jan 1984 to. Apr 10, 2015. From January 1965 to June 1969, model codes were used but no known serial numbers accompanied them. This era saw the advent of Plexiglas panels (giving rise to the 'Plexi' name) and four-digit model numbers. Amps from this era still have the block-style Marshall logo and a centered chassis.

Your amp is the Park version of the Marshall 2150 combo that were relased '78. The designer Steve Grinrod did get his original ideas released in the Park model, while the Marshall 2150 was a tamed down version of the amp. So, this should be a great sounding amp, better than many Marshall models. It's a very rare model, and many collectors and players would love to have one. Take good care of that amp. If you look at your grill cloth over the Marshall logo, you can see where the Park block logo used to be.
