I was trying to back out and keep from entering a new code. After exiting I tried to resign into install and the factory install code would not work. I was on the phone with the Techs from Visonic and they tried to dial in to reset the code for me but the factory dial in is set to OFF.

They want me to uninstall the unit and send it to them to reset the installer code. I wish someone would please help me to reset the installer code with out having to uninstall a perfectly good unit that has work flawlessly for over two years. There is no back door to resetting the code. You do have a chance if you have the ‘Remote Access’ from a remote telephone turned “ON”.

A tech from Visonic can call into your system and reset the code for you. If it is turned “OFF” as in my case then you must remove the unit from the wall and ship it back to either this company or to Visonic and for a fee have them reset the Installer code. It has now been 3 week and I have not yet got my unit back. The codes are stored in an I2C eeprom memory chip. There is no method to 'reset' the memory in this chip (short of an enormous EMP). Nor would you want to because it stores more than just the codes. In order to clear the eeprom the microprocessor in the unit would have to overwrite (erase) every byte of memory in the eeprom intentionally.

Ideally, a jumper would be provided that when the unit is turned on in this 'reset' configuration the microprocessor would erase the appropriate code areas of memory. Apparently the jumper that we have all seen does not do this. I am curious to hear what tech1 hears from the factory on its use. From the 'code reset' point of view, it appears to be benign. If you are a techie, the memory can be read from the eeprom chip into a PC. I have done this and found the location of the installer code within the data. I will be glad to share this information if anyone is willing to try it themselves.
